Vauxhall Fashion Scout: FAD ((London Fashion Week London 2009))
22nd of September i managed to get a ticket/invite to this years (2009) Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Fashion Awareness Direct Awards based just off covent garden in the freemaisons hall.. (which was scary.. we was told not to go into any closed doors)
Any who… i got invited to support my new found friend Nina Ehni… Such a cool girl (totally should have won) my opinion… but yeah my new buddy from LCF shes gonna make my accesories so watch out for her.. shes doing big things already at only 18…

But overall the event was amazing.. a bit hot… And advice if you ever decide to go to one and wear heels… BRING FLAT SHOES TO CHANGE INTO.. because if your heels are anyway as high as mine your gna suffer walking back to the station/home.

Ha, not what you’d expect . . . it’s actually something rather simple: a New York Mets sweatshirt because it’s comfortable, cosy and just very well-cut jersey.
What is your fallback outfit?
Probably some black leather trousers from Preen that have slimming panels on the side, worn with a black cropped sweater with encrusted gems and a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo pumps.
What is your one piece of fashion or beauty advice?
Wear what you feel like wearing, not what you feel you should wear.
What has been your biggest fashion faux pas?
Too many cheap tops from Miss Selfridge.

Iwona Pilch (Middlesex University)
“My collection was mainly inspired by ritual scarring and the cultlike practises of so called modern primitives. I was interested in recreating the surface of fabric in the way the skin in certain cultures is being altered by needles, tribal body art and decorative cuts. To create this ‘second skin’ I was experimenting with stretching fabric over different types of embellished and constructed undergarments or pressing beads into it. The overall concept was to transfer the manipulation of skin onto wearable clothes and show a new personalised sophistication which is created by this instinctive interaction of body and fashion.”
Iwona Pilch, 24, has used African tribal body art as inspiration for her collection of outfits.
She said: “It is called tribal scarification. The body is burned or scarred as decoration and sometimes beads are sewn into the body. I think our clothes are like a second skin. I am transferring the skin decoration onto clothes and playing with the surface of the fabric.
“I made tubes and then pushed the beads into the fabric. I don’t really follow my drawings that closely because I prefer working and experimenting with fabric in three dimensions. Things change once you see them in 3-D.”
Iwona, who is originally from Berlin, added: “The tutors have contacts who will be at the show and will see our work at the exhibition, so it is a chance to get noticed. Getting ready for the show has been quite stressful. This is the first time that we have taken part in a really big show with professional models, and it is professionally run.”
After graduating, Iwona hopes to begin a masters degree in fashion design in Antwerp, Belgium, next year.
“Eventually I would like to own my own fashion house in Berlin,” she added. “Although studying in London is great because there is so much opportunity to do work experience here – much more so than in my hometown, believe it or not.”
I wish Iwona the best for the future… Personal i am intreged by her work as i too am studying anomaly within the body, and body sacrification is such an interested topic. Kee-loyed scaring is also common which i feel she has shown in her work. LOOK OUT FOR HER IN THE FUTURE…

What Ko Tae Yong has been sayin in the Seoul Fashion Week…
When asked what is going to be “hot” next year [Interview : Ko Tae-yong, Designer Beyond Closet] “As for the next trend, the military look is going to be popular next winter and fall. In terms of colors, khaki tones matched with orange will be a hot combination.”
Looking at his S/S collection for 2009 on his www.beyondcloset.com website promoting his new range, i managed to look and see he has an education/school theme for his this season designs. Of course me being a passionate follower of sports clothes i clicked straight onto the “physical education” department and found these intreging garments. (click to see the rest)
Tae Yong: Physical Education
Tae Yong’s School themed work is very simple, quite Nerdy and typical american college kind of look. I could see alot of children who attend private schools wearing his clothes over here, but wouldnt really think it was that suitable for physical education. Maybe the outfit above for this stereotypical “jock” persona. Uno… That big football guy who walks round college in all the movies and gets the chicks!!
His Current Collection which he promoted during the Seoul Fashion week is Very military. The Concept for the range is Young Soldiers and the Theme is ‘homesick’.
For the F/W 09/10 Collection he is using a lot of wool, cotton, cashmere and fake fur. He has also got quite a Slim yet loose style to his work.
Tae Yong is working with lots of Navy’s, Khaki, Brown and Greys. Quite a dark Military kind of vibe. Yet he is complimenting this with a bright Orange or Yellow for added detail. (you can check out this range on the www.seoulfashionweek.org website under designers.)
